Mötley Crüe holds a press conference dubbed "R.I.P: All Bad Things Must Come To An End" at Beacher’s Madhouse Theatre inside the Roosevelt Hotel in hometown Los Angeles to announce their last tour and the band's ultimate retirement after more than three decades together. "The Final Tour" presented by Dodge and produced by Live Nation is set to kick-off mid-year with seventy-two shows across North America with very special guest Alice Cooper, commencing on July 2 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before the band hits international territories in 2015. The band arrives at the event in a black hearse with flamethrowers, while a brass band playing Dr. Feelgood leads the funeral procession inside to a stage set with headstones for each of the members.
To commence proceedings, former Toronto rock radio host Joey 'Vendetta' Scoleri hosts a Q&A session with panelists. Rick Franks, Live Nation's Regional President of North America Concerts, says each event will run for three-hours-plus and ticket prices will start at $20 to make it affordable to attend. The band's attorney Doug Mark of Mark Music & Media Law explains that all band members agree they want to hang it up while at the top of their game. They've seen many diluted brands and trademarks, and many bands playing wrong venues with wrong band members, so together they came up with a methodology for the members to overcome trademark law, partnership law, and shareholder agreements and do something that no touring band has done before – sign an agreement to contractually guarantee they are hanging it up once and for all.
Randy Cortese, Head of Advertising at Dodge, says the partnership with the band for the tour is a natural fit with their car brand. Kickstart My Heart will be used in the company's marketing creatives to celebrate two iconic and notorious American brands during Dodge's 100-year anniversary.
Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta, who discovered Taylor Swift, says a Country Music Tribute To Mötley Crüe will be released this summer as a joint venture between Motley Records, Eleven Seven Records, and Big Machine Records. He drops names like Florida Georgia Line, Brantley Gilbert, Justin Moore, Eli Young Band, Cassadee Pope, and LeAnn Rimes as artists contributing their versions of Crüe classics.
Director of The Dirt movie Jeff Tremaine says for the last two years he's been knee-deep in getting the film script right, to ensure the voice of the band's best-selling book is properly captured, and this stage of the process is just about complete. His goal is to be shooting the movie this June, and while there is no casting to talk about yet, they have ideas. The Final Tour will coincide with The Dirt film that is being prepared to debut in theaters globally in 2015.
Alice Cooper then spends some time on stage and is press quoted as saying, “Real hard rock bands are hard to find these days. Mötley has always gone on stage with one attitude and that's to blow the audience away. That's exactly how we do it. Putting Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper together is going to be just what this summer really NEEDS. We’re going to go out there and tear it up, and I can't wait to see Mötley on stage. Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper – a match made in… Armageddon?”
The Mötley Crüe band members then take their seats and when asked what they will do once the tour ends, Vince says he will continue with his restaurant businesses and will continue to sing Mötley Crüe on stage as a solo artist. Nikki says he will keep active with his band Sixx: A.M., his Sixx Sense radio show, and will continue to make music. Tommy says he has some big surprises in store that he can't talk about just yet, while Mick Mars says he recently moved to Nashville and will work with lots of musicians to seriously pursue a very diverse solo album, as well as release a book about his life.
Members of the press ask questions and the band says they are in the beginning stages of working out the tour production and stage for The Final Tour, which is expected to last two years or more by the time they take the show around the world. When asked if the band's last studio album Saints of Los Angeles will be their last, Nikki says, "You will just have to see." After a photo opportunity with global media, they then become the first-ever band to sign a binding Cessation of Touring Agreement to prevent the Mötley Crüe trademark being used for touring in the future; any of them can sue for damages if one of them tries to tour as Mötley Crüe and breeches the agreement that comes into effect at the end of 2015.
Following the press conference, the band trends at number one on Facebook ahead of President Obama and his State of the Union address.
Along with actors Morgan Freeman and Anna Faris, Mötley Crüe guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and performs on the show's outdoor stage to celebrate the day's big announcement. Speaking further about his post-Mötley Crüe plans, Mick says he hasn’t started any work on his book or figured out who he wants to write with, or help him write it. In regards future touring, he says he’ll probably put together, “a cool band with some cool friends of mine and stuff, and go out and do some… you know, a few weeks here and a few weeks there, touring… but not as the Mick Mars Band; I won't do that. You'll see a name, and you'll go, 'Hey, who's that?' 'I don't know' That's the name of the band."

I have a lot of things I want to do and people who want to write with me!"

Following media reports of Vince having bought the Arena Football League team the Jacksonville Sharks and planning on relocating the team to Las Vegas, Vince states, “I would like to clear up any confusion surrounding me and the Jacksonville Sharks. Firstly, yes, me and a couple of businessmen from Florida did acquire a minority share in the Sharks. No, I never said I was 'bringing' a team anywhere. I did say since I live in Las Vegas I would love to see a team there in the next few years. I am very focused on the Sharks, and looking forward to a great season!”
Yesterday, Jacksonville Sharks managing partner Jeff Bouchy released a statement saying, “There have been several reports in different media outlets over the past several days regarding Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe becoming an owner of the Jacksonville Sharks and possibly relocating the team to the Las Vegas market. Simply stated, the Jacksonville Sharks are neither relocating to the Las Vegas market nor planning to ever leave our great city of Jacksonville. We are currently in talks with Vince Neil about becoming a minority owner of the Jacksonville team, but those discussions do not include moving the team to another market, and as of now, neither Vince Neil nor Rockstar Investment Group, Inc. own any part of the Jacksonville Sharks. We have been in discussions with Vince Neil over the past several months. If a deal is reached, he will own a minority interest and will help us elevate the Sharks brand on a local and national level and we, in turn, will help educate his group about the great sport of arena football and all aspects of its business. Vince Neil has aspirations to create a future expansion team in his current home of Las Vegas, Nevada, which has led to the confusion with the media. If we are fortunate enough to have a rock legend join our ownership group, it could happen as early as this week.
